About Us

Comsense Holdings Ltd.

The head of our company, Marty Roberts, began his career as a carpenter in his native Ireland in the 1980s. Working on primarily large scale projects in Ireland and the UK, he developed his skills and expertise in a wide variety of carpentry tasks, while nurturing a love of high quality detail work that led him to focus on interior finishing. Moving to Vancouver in the late 1990s, Marty started his own company providing residential and commercial general contracting, establishing a sterling reputation of fair and transparent relationships with both clients and sub-trades. Now based in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, Comsense Holdings specializes in kitchen and bath interiors, and follows Marty's keys to success:

Our Process

When you contact us we will discuss your ideas and requirements, then schedule a brief site visit to take measurements. We will then, over the next 2 to 3 days, produce a preliminary design with 3d renderings and email them to you. We will then get your feedback on the preliminary design and make any adjustments and revisions that you require. Once you approve the final design, we will provide you with a quote. When we have received a deposit from you, we will order the materials required and over the next 4 to 6 weeks build the cabinets and doors. Once everything we can pre-build is ready, we will schedule 5 to 7 days on site for demo and installation of your new kitchen or bathroom.

Our employees are covered by the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) and fully insured. No job or client is too big or too small; when we work with you we treat you with respect and keep you up to date in all aspects of your project that require your input.

Quality Materials

We use plywood for all our cabinets instead of medium density fiberboard (MDF). Plywood is more water resistant, holds fasteners better, is lighter and stronger than MDF

Just like particle board, MDF will soak up water and other liquids like a sponge.

Because it consists of such fine particles, MDF doesn’t hold screws very well, and it’s very easy to strip the screw holes.

MDF is a less expensive material, but if you want your cabinets to last, plywood is the better choice.

Outstanding Workmanship

30 years of experience have shown that constructing cabinets with blind dado joints makes for better cabinets. That is why we use it instead of the butt joint that is common to cheaper cabinet boxes.

A cabinet built with snug-fitting, glued-together dado joints will last for decades.

The butt joint is the simplest joint to make. It is also the weakest...
